Kindergarten to 12th Grade
For the 2012-2013 School Year
Thank you for choosing Pueblo City Schools. Each of our schools has a distinct personality and offers something unique for its students. We offer school choice, meaning you can chose your neighbor school or another public school in the district (based on availabile space in the school). Enrollment is easy. Simply call or visit the school you would like your child to attend and begin the enrollment process. Regardless of which school you choose, rest-assured your child will receive the strong, nurturing, well-rounded education s/he needs to succeed.
Please use the following steps to begin the enrollment process.
STEP 1
Determine your student's eligibility
- Children entering kindergarten must be five-years-old on or before October 1 of each year.
- Children entering first grade must be six-years-old on or before October 1 of each year.
- Children under the age of 21 on the first day of school are eligible for enrollment.
- Children who are
- not a U.S. citizens
- have not attended a U.S. school continuously for the past two years, OR
- are U.S. citizens who have attended a non-U.S. school overseas are eligible for enrollment with a official valid birth certificate from their birth country.

STEP 2
Locate your school
Based on your home address, use the Boundaries Link under the Enrollment Menu to determine your home address school or a school of your choice.
Exception:
MAGNET SCHOOLS:
Fountain (K-3) and Corwin (4-8) Internationl Magnet Schools are application based schools. Please contact the Magnet School Office at 719-423-3050 or visit the Magnet School website for further information.
CHARTER SCHOOLS:
PSAS (K-8) - Pueblo School for Arts and Science and
CHPA - Chavez/Huerta Preparatory Academy (K-12) are application based schools. Please contact the schools directly for further application information.
PRESCHOOL:
Preschool is an application based program. Please contact the Preschool Department at 719-253-6016, or visit the Preschool Link under Schools for further information.
Remember, a school chosen outside your home address school, is offered on a "space available" permission basis. Our School Choice enrollment requires each school to accommodate students within their school's boundary prior to accepting students living outside their boundary. This also applies to students living outside of the Pueblo City Schools district boundaries.

Contact your school
Contact your school
Once you have determined the school you would like to attend, please contact the school by phone or in person. Look for your school under the Schools menu to find the "Contact Information" link on the left side of the school's home page.
- Registration during the Current School year - contact the school directly.
- Registration for the 2012-2013 School year will begin on the following days:
August 1 - All High Schools
August 7 - Extended Year Schools:
-Goodnight K-8,
-Fountain International Magnet School and
-Corwin International Magnet School
August 14 - Traditional Year Schools:
-All District Elementary Schools
-All District Middle Schools
August 7 - Extended Year Schools:
-Goodnight K-8,
-Fountain International Magnet School and
-Corwin International Magnet School
August 14 - Traditional Year Schools:
-All District Elementary Schools
-All District Middle Schools
STEP 4
Take the following Documents to your new school
When registering your children, provide the following documents:
- Parent or Guardian Driver's license or one of the following documents: Passport, Permanent resident alien card, Naturalization papers, Birth certificate.
- Guardianship or Court Orders (as necessary)
- Proof of Residency - Verified by one of the following, used to verify home address:
- Homeowners: a copy of your current property tax bill or mortgage statement.
- Renters: a copy of your current lease agreement.
- Shared Housing Residents: If you are living in a shared housing situation, contact the school for the documentation process.
- Homeowners: a copy of your current property tax bill or mortgage statement.
Student Documents:
- Official State Birth Certificate - Note: Hospital Certificate will not be accepted
- Immunization "Shot" Records - Must be current
- Colorado state law requires all students enrolling in Colorado schools to furnish a CURRENT Certificate of Immunization.

- Last school attended: School Name and Contact Information
- Last school Report Card or Transcript - if possible
- Inform school if your student has an individaulized learning plan (IEP, ILP, 504) or other special program needs.
