Holidays
Holidays shall be observed as shown on the official work schedule calendar for each employee group and paid according to each group's contract agreement.

Vacation
Annual vacation benefits with full salary shall be granted according to each employee group's contract agreement.

Annual Excused Leave

Employees on active duty the first day of the contract year shall accrue excused leave (accrual pertains to the number of unused leave days accumulated each month) with full  salary (depending upon the contract for each employee group).

Excused leave may be used for the following purposes:
  • Personal Medical Disability (personal illness) Child Adoption/Childbirth
  • Medical Disability or Death in the Immediate Family
  • Personal Leave
  • Death of Other Relative
  • Work Related Injury

Accumulated Excused Leave

Unused excused leave shall be accumulated from year to year. Accumulated excused leave may be used for approved purposes only after the current year's annual excused leave is exhausted.

Sick Leave Bank
(Benefit Eligible Employees)

A benefit eligible employee who chooses to participate in the Sick Leave Bank must donate one (1) excused leave day each year. Open enrollment is held every September. The sick Leave Bank will be reserved for those in dire need, who have exhausted their own excused leave and who experience an unexpected catastrophic illness or event that makes it impossible for him/her to fulfill his/her duties in the District. Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
Under the FMLA, employees are allowed leave of up to 12 weeks, with return to job rights, due to personal illness, the care of a sick child, and the care of a parent with a serious health condition. Employee must have 1250 hours or 1 year of employment with the district to qualify. Contact the Human Resources Office for further information.

Short Term and Long-Term Disability
Employee is eligible after 5 years vested with PERA. Contact Standard Insurance through PERA: 1-800-759-7372

Other Types of Leave

Parental Leave:
Parental leave without salary and fringe benefits, except health insurance, may be granted to employees for the purpose of child rearing, child care, or adoption.

Military Leave:
Employees who are members of the National Guard or any other component of the military forces of the state now or hereafter organized or constituted under state or federal laws, or who shall be members of the reserve forces of the United States now or hereafter organized or constitute under federal law shall be entitled to paid leave of absence from their employment under certain conditions.

Jury Duty:
Employees shall be granted leave for jury duty as provided for by law.

Professional Leave: Employees may be approved with or without expenses.

Special Leave:
Leaves of absence requested for purposes not covered may be requested on an individual basis and approved at the discretion of the Board of Education.
